The Sent Ones vs Went Ones

The Difference Between the Sent and the Went

Over many years, I have learned that there are sent ones and there are went ones. The "sent" are those who wait on God and seek Him until they encounter and know Him accurately. This might involve receiving a vision, hearing a word, or experiencing a direct encounter with the Holy Spirit.

It is vital to recognize the Fruits of the Spirit and understand what a true encounter with God produces within you. As Galatians 5:22–23 states, the nine fruits are:

  • Love
  • Joy
  • Peace
  • Patience
  • Kindness
  • Goodness
  • Faithfulness
  • Gentleness
  • Self-control

If you believe you are being led by the Spirit, but your life isn't producing these fruits, you "might wanna check yourself before you wreck yourself." Having dealt with both sides of this for the past eleven years, I know how deceptive these experiences can be. Misalignment will eventually hurt both you and your ministry.

The War of Discernment

I have struggled with the process of waiting on God for years. Because I am a spiritual person who can see and hear in that realm all day long, I’ve had to learn that "spiritual" does not always mean "God."

In my youth, I recklessly followed various spirits to my own downfall, thinking everything supernatural was divine. It has been a constant battle to stay on the path laid out by the one true God. It often felt like the more God used me, the more other spirits would try to jump in and "get their piece of the pie."

When it is truly God, however, the results are unmistakable. I remember having consecutive days where I could say, with total sincerity, "This is the best day of my life!"

Confronting Performance Spirits

Conversely, I have had days where I felt a heavy "on-ness"—a pressure to perform, telling me to do this or that while masquerading as God. I call these performance spirits. They provide a checklist of "dos and don’ts" that never produce peace or breakthrough, no matter how obedient you are. They will essentially drag you to hell in a handbasket.

This internal battle has been so prominent that I often feel it is my only real problem in life. If this were resolved, I feel I would never have a "bad" day again. At a base level, I realize that the external problems most people focus on are nothing compared to the glory of encountering the true God.

My main issues aren't my bank account or my social standing. The root is deep inside. If I can remain aligned with Jesus, external circumstances lose their weight. Regardless of what the outside looks like, I can maintain inner peace and live better on the inside.

Scriptural Foundations for Waiting on the Lord

Foundational Verses

  • Isaiah 40:31: "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
  • Psalm 27:14: "Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord."
  • Lamentations 3:25: "The Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him."
  • Micah 7:7: "Therefore I will look unto the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me."
  • Psalm 37:7: "Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass."
  • Note: The "waiting" described here is not passive—it is an active alignment of the heart. It involves quieting the natural mind to make room for the manifest presence of the Spirit.

    The Call to Seek Him

    • Jeremiah 29:13: "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."
    • Psalm 63:1: "O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water."
    • Amos 5:4: "For thus says the Lord to the house of Israel: 'Seek me and live.'"
    • Matthew 6:33: "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."
    • 1 Chronicles 16:11: "Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!"

    Abiding in His Presence

    • John 15:4: "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me."
    • Psalm 46:10: "Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!"
    • James 4:8: "Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you."
    • Luke 10:41–42: "But the Lord answered her, 'Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.'"

    Knowing His Character

    • Philippians 3:10: "That I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death."
    • Hebrews 11:6: "And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him."
    • Jeremiah 9:24: "But let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the Lord who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth."
    • Daniel 11:32: "But the people who know their God shall stand firm and take action."

From Lost to Found

From Lost to Found: My Journey to God's Unconditional Love Introduction  I've been under attack from an enemy since I was born, an enemy who has been trying to snuff out the light for a long time. This is my story: a chronicle of my life and all the strange things I've experienced up until this point. I can see you, reader... I know you. We are the same, thrown into the rabbit hole like Alice in Wonderland, surrounded by mystery, wondrous things, terrible things – things that seem like a dream, foggy and indistinct. Things unspeakable... Chapter 1: The Echo of Emptiness: My Early World I've never felt much direction or purpose in my life. For the most part, I've been like a leaf blowing in different winds. There hasn't been a real desire for a career path or much of an endgame plan at all. At best, I could usually just muster up enough energy to make it through the day. I've always heard people talking about their 401k and retirement plans. I've seen p...

The Architecture of the Cloud: Designing the Death of the Carnal Mind.

Field Notes: The Divine Filter & The Dark Cloud Volume I: The Divine Filter and the Thick Darkness The Architecture of the Cloud In the economy of the spirit, we often mistake darkness for absence. Scripture reveals a different mechanics of transformation: God chooses the dark cloud as His pavilion. "The people remained at a distance, while Moses approached the thick darkness where God was." (Exodus 20:21) To the carnal mind, the cloud is an irritation—an obstruction to the "brain" that demands logic. But to the spirit, the cloud is a Divine Filter. It is the "silver liquid" that shields us from a glory that would otherwise consume the unrefined self. The Lazarus Paradox Entering the cloud is the ultimate "inconvenience of the cross." It feels like a burial, a "Lazarus Paradox" where the senses report death, yet the Spirit is being quickened. In this white-hot fire of the dark cloud: • The Scapegoat Genius is silenced. • The Morni...

Field Notes of Sanctification

Volume I: The Relentless Pursuit Chapter 1: A New Hunger I didn't used to be this way. I used to hang out with everyone; I was more social, more outgoing. But now, I just seek peace and joy most of the day long. This pursuit is addicting. The Bible says God is a consuming fire and a jealous God. He won't settle for just some of you; He wants the whole thing. I’ve never experienced anything like it. No matter how I react in my flesh, He just keeps pursuing me and bringing me back in. There is simply no escaping God. Chapter 2: The Pain of the Wash Sometimes, the process of being filled by God is painful. When He starts the work of washing and sanctification, you will undergo a lot of pain. You begin to see things inside of yourself that you don't like. It is an uncomfortable reality to face, but it is the only way to be truly cleaned from the inside out. Chapter 3: An Overnight Change Something was cured deep within my bloodline. That is the only way to explain why I ...
